Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz have been married for six years and have two beautiful sons, but that’s not to say their union formed without obstacles. Back then, it was largely speculated and insinuated by both the media and Mashonda herself (the now-ex-wife of Swizz) that Keys was the catalyst for her & the superproducer’s breakup.

But after years of apparent healing and reconciliation, Keys has made a major move to assure us all that all is well among them.

A follow-up to her lead single, “In Common,” Keys has shared a new song, the aptly-titled “Blended Family” and, in a refreshingly mature and honorable move worth applause, she’s dedicated it to none other than Mashonda. Keys wrote on Instagram:

“My new song Blended Family (What You Do For Love) will be available everywhere at Midnight. I’m so excited for you to hear this song. It means so much to me and our whole family. The understanding, compassion and support we’ve found is a powerful testament to the healing that comes when we choose love. Especially for the kids… the most important part of our lives. Celebrating @mashondatifrere for our commitment to each other with support and true growth.”

On the track, acoustic guitar, fluttering piano keys, and a classic thump-and-tap drumline support Keys as she seemingly sings to Kasseem, Swizz and Mashonda’s son:

“Hey, I might not really be your mother / That don’t mean that I don’t really love ya / And even though I married your father / That’s not the only reason I’m here for ya…. / I know it started with a little drama / I hate you had to read it in the paper / But everything’s alright with me and ya mama / Baby, everyone here you know adores ya.”

And A$AP Rocky joins for a guest verse that’s slightly less sappy (“Shoutout to the stepsisters and stepbrothers / And godsisters who eventually slept with us”), but sees him holding his own while harmonizing with Keys, too.

An added bonus to being invited to this peace party? Keys used the opp to share the announcement, title, artwork, and release date of her upcoming album.

And Keys, strongly standing by her makeup-free movement, looks as stunning as ever on the cover.

In a separate post on Instagram, Keys added:

“To me, family has no singular definition and the modern family is made up of all kinds of beautiful people willing to put love first.”

Here drops November 4.
