Bradley has been touring his third studio album, Changes, for the majority of the year with his band, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires. He recently made a cameo in Netflix’s latest Marvel series, Luke Cage, appearing as himself at the Harlem Paradise nightclub, which is run by the villain Cottonmouth (Mahershala Ali).

“Music is how I share my love with the world, and the love that my fans have given back brings me so much joy,” he added. “I look forward to seeing your gorgeous faces soon, and to continue to share my love through music.”

Born in 1948, Bradley spent most of his life living with his mother in Brooklyn. At 19 years old, Bradley began his career as a James Brown impersonator and performed across the States. He then battled illiteracy, poverty, and unemployment, but his life finally turned around when he met Tom Brenneck, who eventually produced three of his albums including his 2011 debut, No Time For Dreaming.

In May, Bradley mentioned his love for performing and the genuine connection he shares with his audiences.

“Right now, I don’t see a stopping point because I don’t see no place where I can stop at and rest in peace,” he recently told Rolling Stone. “I know that from doing shows for the public, the love when I go out into the audience and hug them and the things that they say to me personally… Wow, it’s not only me onstage doing it. I open their hearts up and they feel the love of my heart and when I go out there and really respond to them and talk to them, they tell me some things.”
