New York City-based singer and songwriter Annalise Azadian has had music at the forefront of her life since her childhood.

As she was growing up she taught herself to play the guitar, and after her grandmother’s death, Annalise was inspired to start songwriting at age 11. “It’s the only thing I’m meant to be doing,” says the now 18-year-old Annalise. By age 14 she was winning accolades at the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem and has since performed at local bars and venues such as The Bitter End, as well as auditioning and proceeding to be flown to Hollywood on the hit TV show American Idol. After high school she was accepted into the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. It was here where she further refined her vocals, guitar talents, and songwriting styles.

Recently collaborating with Joey Badass and Jim Jones for the single “Lost Ones,” the young talent has performed in over 80 venues, festivals, and fundraisers, and amassed mentions in the press spotlighting her soulful, alternative style of genre-bending, boundary-pushing music.

Best part of making this video: The hours I spent writing the treatment and scoping locations out and finally having it come to life, especially the tunnel scene!

What inspires your art: I take real-life situations and turn them into music.

Concept of the song: This song is literally about being a Work In Progress. I am growing and learning every day, therefore every day is a work in progress, and everyone surrounding you, no matter how young or old, is one as well.
