It was late Sunday evening in New York for Kanye West and early Monday morning in Paris for Kim Kardashian when the rapper cut his performance short at the Meadows Music & Arts Festival upon hearing that his wife had been held at gunpoint and robbed in her hotel room. Here’s everything we know so far:
In town for Paris Fashion Week, Kim arrives to the Balenciaga show to sit front row and, in rare form, does so makeup-free.
She later jokes on social media that her bodyguard, Pascal Duvier, consistently photobombs her should-be solo paparazzi pics.
Hours after the Balenciaga show, Kim dons a lacy and silk lingerie-inspired look to watch her own sister Kendall Jenner strut the runway for Givenchy.
She then makes another outfit change, now a matching all-matte python set, for dinner with designer Azzedine Alaia hosted at his home.
Kim later takes to Snapchat when she arrives back to what is locally known as the ‘No Address Hotel,’ but the private mansion’s official name is l’Hotel de Pourtalès. It’s located on Rue Tronchet in Paris’ 8th arrondissement and houses Kim’s rented luxury apartment.
In what appears to be Kim last Snap before the incident, she shares video of herself FaceTiming with, and sending congratulations to, her future sister-in-law Blac Chyna who was celebrating at her baby shower back in California.
Reports claim the robbery occurred at roughly 2:30 a.m. local time on Monday morning (8:30 p.m. ET Sunday evening).
And, according to one of the first tweets sent out by a Meadows Festivals attendee, by 9:42 p.m. ET, Kanye had gotten word of the incident and abruptly stopped his set mid-performance of “Heartless.”
The Meadows Festival confirms the news with a tweet of their own.
Video of Kanye’s unexpected cancellation emerges and fans can be heard experiencing a range of emotions, from concern (“What happened to Kim?”) to frustrated dismissal (“This is so Kanye”).
CNN reports that mansion’s concierge was handcuffed and forced to give the gunmen access to Kim’s room where they put a gun to her head, locked her in a bathroom, and robbed her of nearly $10 million worth of jewelry.
“The French Interior Ministry said five men threatened the mansion concierge with a weapon, handcuffed him and forced him to open the private apartment. Two of the men were able to gain entry to Kardashian West’s room, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office, and a gun was held to her head…. She was locked in a bathroom while the men took two cell phones and jewelry worth millions of dollars.”
The New York Times additionally reports that “she was alone,” tied up and gagged, and that the men — three of which “left on foot, and two on bikes” — also made off with a “wallet that contained credit cards.”
A spokeswoman for Kardashian West said the celebrity was “badly shaken but physically unharmed” following the incident.
Despite Kanye cutting his set short, newly-surfaced videos and photos show he did not fly to Paris to meet Kim. He was spotted en route to New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport where he met Kim who left France Monday after speaking with police and boarding a private jet accompanied by Duvier.
The couple returned to their Manhattan apartment flanked by a 15-car motorcade.
CNN reports that “authorities in Paris have not…said if anyone has been arrested in connection with the heist.”
UPDATE: October 4, 2016
