Lyor Cohen — founder of 300 Entertainment, former CEO of Warner Music Group, former president of Def Jam, and scheduled keynote speaker at this year’s upcoming REVOLT Music Conference — now has a new title to tack on: He’s just been hired by YouTube to serve as their Global Head of Music.

Cohen’s new role at YouTube will put him in a position that will allow the music industry executive to turn the video-sharing site into a streaming service, like Apple Music, TIDAL and Spotify. He is being brought in to bridge the gap between YouTube and the music industry.

According to a statement that Cohen gave to YouTube’s music team, he plans to set three plans in place in order to create effective change. While the first plan will focus on helping the music community, as well as embracing technological shifts, the second plan will target the YouTube music app and building its success. The third plan will focus on moving towards a collaborative relationship between the music industry and technologies that are shaping the future of the business.

Cohen will hold a Q&A at the REVOLT Music Conference, as well. With his new title, responsibilities and years of experience under his belt, it is likely that the executive will share great words of wisdom.

The REVOLT Music Conference will take place Oct. 13-15 at the Eden Roc Miami Beach. For more information and to purchase tickets, visitwww.revoltmusicconference.com.
