Jay Z extends his kingdom with a first-look deal with The Weinstein Co. for two years that will allow him to produce scripted and unscripted television and film projects. According to The Hollywood Reporter, there are projects already in development that will be announced in the coming weeks.

“I’m excited to tell stories from real-life prophets who, through their struggles, have changed the world for the better and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight,” Jay Z said in a statement. “Harvey [Weinstein] and David [Glasser] are visionaries, both of whom have done this time and time again. I’m already passionate about what we currently have in the pipeline, and I’m looking forward to discovering others.”

This is certainly not Jay’s foray into producing. If you recall, his past film credits include the _Annie _remake starring Jamie Foxx, Rock’s _Top Five _and the film adaptation of The Great Gatsby. And as we previously reported, he and Will Smith are collaborating on a miniseries for HBO about Emmett Till.
