Danny Brown, also known as the Adderall Admiral, released his highly anticipated fourth album Atrocity Exhibition on Tuesday night, three days ahead of schedule.

The Detroit native said on Twitter that he couldn’t wait any longer to release the record. His 15-track album features guest spots from Kelela, B-Real of Cypress Hill, Petite Noir, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, and Earl Sweatshirt. It also includes production from The Alchemist, Black Milk, Evian Christ, and his longtime collaborator Paul White.

Earlier this year, the wild-haired emcee said the record, his fourth, was simply about pushing his creativity to new boundaries.

“At the time of my life, right now, I’m just all about being creative,” he told Entertainment Weekly in August. “I’m here now, so I’ve just gotta stay here. And the way I stay here is just making the most far-out-there music I possibly can and pushing rap music forward, like being progressive with it, instead of just trying to do whatever’s hot at the moment.”

Brown says that he drew inspiration from artists spanning a variety of genres including Bjork, System of a Down’s Toxicity, the Talking Heads, and Raekwon. He also titled the LP after the 1980 Joy Division track of the same name.

“That song, [Ian Curtis is] pretty much talking about how he feels like he’s part of a freak show almost,” he told Rolling Stone. “People just wanna come see him and they just wanna see him be a certain type of way. I totally relate to that. That’s just how I felt with this album, ’cause a lot of people expect for me to be some crazy drugged-out I-don’t-know.”

He also knew that he could take his time to create some timeless music for his fans, and drop $70,000 on samples for the record.

“With me, [I’m] somebody that’s able to sit down and be able to take my time, ’cause ain’t nobody gonna be out here sounding like me, ain’t nobody gonna be out here doing what I do,” he told the publication. “I’m confident in this project to know that I’ma satisfy the people that’s already fans of my music. So, if you’re a fan of Danny Brown, you in for a treat.”
