Gucci Mane made his silver screen debut in Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers back in 2013, and in a new interview has revealed that he will be reteaming with the controversial filmmaker for a new project called The Trap.

Speaking with GQ, Guwop opened up on some of his forthcoming projects and among them is Harmony Korine’s long-in-the-works crime drama. Telling the tale of an ex-con gangster plotting revenge against his former friend, now a successful rap artist, The Trap boasts an impressive cast that includes Idris Elba, Benicio Del Toro, James Franco, Robert Pattinson, and Michael Corleone himself – Al Pacino.

The film has remained in development for some years due to cast issues, making Gucci’s announcement the first update since February.

While some may go pale upon realizing who they’ll play opposite of, Gucci isn’t sweating it much and admitted his admiration for Korine, saying, “Me and him work good together because we just freestyle shit, both of us don’t have no rigid mind state when we bring something to life. I love to act.”

A release date for The Trap has yet to be announced but should go into production soon. Meanwhile, the Atlanta emcee is gearing up for his new album Woptober and will star in a film titled The Spot that he is also co-producing.

Harmony Korine most recently directed Rihanna’s video for “Needed Me.”
