Word to DJ Khaled, the King of the fall has returned with another one.

Just one day after officially unveiling the his forthcoming album, Starboy, The Weeknd delivers the sultry title track that is sure to take the year like a bandit.

With the assistance of the legendary French robots otherwise known as Daft Punk, the Grammy Award-winning pop star’s latest single landed Wednesday night (September 21) on Apple Music and Spotify, alongside a preorder link for the album on iTunes. Featuring bright percussion under a percolating layer, the rhythmic tune hints at a continued evolution for The Weeknd, who has been expanding on each and every release since his raw mixtape trifecta of the early 2010s. Weeknd is at his most bumptious on “Starboy,” flexing velvety croons like, “Coming for the king, that’s a far cry, I come alive in the fall time / The competition I don’t ever listen/ I’m in the blue Mulsanne bumping New Edition.” Layers of “ha ha” vocal refrains are also peppered around the song’s hook, “Look what you’ve done/ I’m a motherf—king starry.”

The comeback single drew general acclaim from fans, who took to Twitter to rejoice in the King of the Fall’s impending takeover.

Judging by the electronica-tinged sound of “Starboy,” this next chapter for Weeknd will expand from where the pop magic of Beauty Behind the Madness left off. Of course, the Midas touch of Daft Punk on this record plays a factor in guessing the sonic forecast of Starboy, but like we learned in the past with records like “The Hills,” we’ll just have to wait and see what else the singer has in store for us when the album arrives on November 25th.
