The unarmed black man had his hands up when he was killed by police in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
By now you might have seen the videos released Monday (September 19) by the Tulsa, Oklahoma Police Department showing the encounter between their officers and Terence Crutcher. The footage reveals Crutcher, 40, an unarmed black man with his arms raised, being Tasered by officer Tyler Turnbough, and then fatally shot by officer Betty Shelby. Both officers were white, and were responding Friday evening to reports an abandoned vehicle blocking a road. As is often the case, Shelby has been placed on paid administrative leave.
Less than two months after the deaths of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, the number of unarmed black people being fatally shot by law enforcement officials continues to rise.
