PAPER Magazine’s September issue, “1000 Beautiful People” features multiple cover stars, from DJ Khaled and Naomi Campbell to Blac Chyna and Chloe x Halle. And the beautiful people were indeed out for the launch party, which took place in the midst of New York Fashion Week. The Gilded Lily nightclub was filled to capacity as guests entered into a ’70s disco-inspired venue.

NARS sponsored the launch party, so makeup samples were available for a limited time. DJ Chase B already had the glamorous crowd rocking, and the people-watching did not disappoint. Dej Loaf, Naturi Naughton, TK Wonder, Karrueche, Teyana Taylor, and Iman Shumpert could all be spotted under the lights of the spinning disco ball. It was chill, until out of nowhere, Rick Ross hit the mic, followed by singer Mario performing his first hit “Let Me Love You.” Next, Ameriie sang “One Thing,” for a nostalgic run that had everyone excited.

No one had a clue of what would happen next, however: Travis Scott, fresh off earning his first no. 1 album with Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, jumped up on the couches and sang several of his hit songs. As he moshed with the crowd — and even tried to crowdsurf — Juicy J hopped up and went into performances of “Bandz A Make Her Dance,” “Slob on my Knob,” and more. It was clear the vet and the newcomer had mutual respect for each other.

Shortly after those surprises, the beautiful people vanished into the breezy New York night.
