Kanye knows how to cause a ruckus in the name of art. He’s had an eventful week of shows starting with the Bad Boy Family Reunion tour, two nights of the highest-selling show in Madison Square Garden for the Saint Pablo Tour, and now the rollout of Yeezy Season 4.

Late last week Kanye announced the official model casting for this season and was met with drama as many were not fond of the language used on the flyer. Kanye specified that he was only casting “multiracial” women, which left some feeling excluded. Still thousands of women lined up for a chance to participate in the highly anticipated show.

Kanye’s detailed attention span seems to be very short-lived as the selection of the show venue, Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park, served as an intentional political statement down to the diamond or “Roc” formation the models were standing in, but fell short in production. Attendees boarded their shuttles around 1:30 p.m. in an effort to be timely for the show at 3 p.m. To our surprise we were rushing just to wait in 83-degree weather with no water. To add salt to the wound the show did not begin until about 4:20 p.m. Gazing at the multiracial beauties he selected from the casting sport what appeared to be Yeezy Season 2 garments left most editors underwhelmed until the show began.

This collection could be best described as mute. We saw so much progression between seasons 2 and 3 that this collection seemed to backtrack significantly. Still running with his expression of what we’ve coined “homeless chic,” he uses a neutral color palette and a mixture of bodycon and oversize silhouettes, as well as lots of fabric with spandex. He’s also added two new boots that, judging by the model’s strut, are still a work in progress. We all were a little confused by the amount of shearling and outwear as this showcase was for Spring/Summer 2017, but maybe he is trying to redefine shopping out of season. In the near future we’re sure the Kardashians will market each outfit as styled by Kanye until we arrive at Season 5.
