After a momentous fashion week kickoff brought by the premiere of the Yeezy Season 4 collection, Kanye West and the G.O.O.D. Music family shut down the Big Apple in a major way last night (September 7), headlining a surprise pop-up show at the Highline Ballroom in New York City. There, ‘Ye was joined by Travis Scott, Migos, Desiigner, Pusha T, and Tyga for a night filled with big surprises.
The biggest news of the night came via a few announcements pertaining to the G.O.O.D. Music fold. According to Kanye, Tyga is now the newest addition to the roster as are Migos, who have been signed on to G.O.O.D. Music management.
Tyga, who is currently dating Kanye’s sister-in-law Kylie Jenner, has been putting out music independently the last two years, following a bad breakup with former label Cash Money Records. His last album, 2015’s The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty, was executive produced by Kanye West, who also handled production alongside Mike Dean for the lead single “40 Mill.”
As for Migos, the group has been spotted with Kanye a lot over the last couple of months. Earlier this summer, Quavo appeared on the G.O.O.D. Music single “Champions” and in an interview with REVOLT, he described the moment as a painting. “It’s like painting a picture,” he said. “It’s painting with all the best painters in the world in one picture.”
Migos are currently signed to Quality Control as artists, with 300 Entertainment handling distribution. So this type of management deal is sort of equivalent to Meek Mill being managed by Roc Nation but still signed as an artist to Maybach Music Group/Atlantic Records.
The additions to the G.O.O.D. Music roster arrives as plans are coming together for Cruel Winter, which will find Travis Scott in the executive producer chair. “It’s coming very soon,” the “Antidote” rapper told Hot 97’s Ebro In the Morning this week. “I’m saying February.” He also went on to confirm that “every G.O.O.D. Music artist is involved.”
Stay tuned.
