What comes to mind when you hear the name Hype Williams? It’s a vibrant, edgy swag that’s synonymous with damn near every music video from the early ’90s through the early aughts. It’s this iconic visionary who influenced the new single by electro-R&B duo BC Kingdom.

Made up of members Logan and Zou, BC Kingdom say they understand the importance of Williams’ visual influence on pop culture. He directed some of the fashionable group’s favorite visual treatments, and much of their visuals give a nod to him in some way. This namesake track is the latest from their new EP, Buckwildnite.

With roots in Inglewood, California, BC Kingdom describe their sound as forward-thinking electronic, grounded in the classic roots of pop and R&B. They fuse house-influenced, electronic beats with bass and hypnotic vocals, creating a sound that’s grabbed the attention of M.I.A. and Solange.
