Hours after posting $250,000 bail on Wednesday (August 31) following an arrest on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, Chris Brown turned up the BPM and returned the music, releasing the brand new song “What Would You Do?”

With an infectious groove to back, Brown’s single once again flaunts the beaming pop appeal that has been praised over the last decade. A bulk of this praise has been attributed to his mastery of blurring the lines between dance, pop, and R&B. (Think “Yeah 3x,” “New Flame.”) That said, “What Would You Do?” is a dancey tune that showcases all these qualities, while also allowing the singer room to deliver the following pensive lines: “I’ve got some questions, some questions for you / I need some answers, answers from you / What do you do, fighting for your life when no one’s on your side? / I can’t stand to lose you, see you’re in too deep with nowhere to hide.”

The timing of the groovy tune and its title appear to make note of the recent headlines, however with the tender lyrics and all, it falls in line with Chris Brown’s signature style of dance floor-ready pop.

The singer is currently working on his next album Heartbreak on a Full Moon, which is already preceded by the single “Grass Ain’t Greener.”
