Guordan Banks just scored his first No. 1 record as an independent artist, with the sultry hit “Keep You In Mind.” That smooth R&B song is just a taste of what’s to come from the North Philly singer-songwriter.

Coming from the same place as soul legends Teddy Pendergrass and Patti LaBelle definitely had an influence on Banks. “North Philly is unique; it’s the struggle, but it’s also the triumph,” he told REVOLT Sessions host Amrit Singh. His album, Unpopular, is set for September 23 release, and it’s about “bridging the gap of where we should be and where we are.” This just means Banks is making music with a message, music for the culture.
