Shirazee was born in Porto Novo, Benin, but the singer is truly a man of the world. After attending college in the UK, he lived back and forth between Paris and South Africa, then the calling in his heart to be an artist led him to Atlanta. Those diverse international influences swirl together to create Shirazee’s warm, mellifluous sound.

Shirazee lived the starving artist life in New York City for a year until he landed a publishing deal and began to write songs for artists including Ty Dolla $ign, Astrid S, and Kiesza. But he never lost sight of the desire to one day be a performer himself. Songwriting opened up an amazing lane for Shirazee, but he began to get frustrated with the music soundscape. “I was wondering if our generation wouldn’t be remembered for real music,” he said. “I wanted to push the envelope. I wanted to make sure I had my own voice. I wanted to take people on a journey.”

With his new single, “Different,” Shirazee does just that. The song blends lush, tropical vibes with Afrobeats, and the visual takes you on a journey to 13 different countries special to Shirazee, shot entirely on an iPhone. He calls it a testament to never giving up and protecting your vibe at all costs.
