NEW YORK, NY — Just about every standing attendee at the The Garden at Studio Square in Queens, NY last night (August 20) activated the pipe it up switch upon Migos’ arrival to the stage. There, A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs christened the city with their annual end of summer extravaganza for Fool’s Gold Day Off and headlining the big night of performances was none other than rap’s ‘three the hard way,’ Offset, Quavo and Takeoff. But what was poised to be a night set to go from level seven to all the way up, turned into level WTF?
“There’s too many people in this motherf—ker, we gotta turn this shit up,” Quavo bellowed out, before the squad kicked off their set 8:45 p.m. with records off their recently released 3 Way EP (“Can’t Go Out Sad,” “3 Way Intro”) and the rousing party-starter “Pipe It Up.” However after a few minor sound issues and a “F—k 12” chant from the trio, police eventually shut down the show, cutting Migos’ promising headlining performance short.
Speaking on the incident, the rappers explained it’s “a Migos thing, I don’t think it’s a police thing.”
“Yeah these scary ass cops just shut down the show, I’m pissed off,” said Quavo to REVOLT after the abrupt finish. “People want to see Migos, all the fans wanted to see us.” Although the move left many in disbelief and frustration, Migos meanwhile sent out a positive note to fans after the show, stating, “To all the fans, we apologize and we love y’all.”
