Ryan Lochte, arguably the most popular Team USA swimmer after Michael Phelps, lied about being assaulted in Rio during the 2016 Olympics. In an elaborate story, Lochte said he and three teammates were robbed at gunpoint when their taxi was pulled over by thieves impersonating police officers. That turned out to be untrue, but this was only discovered after Lochte was safely back in the U.S. His teammates, meanwhile, were pulled off their plane and detained by police in Brazil.

This, of course, is an opportunity for social media to do what it does best: take clowns to task for their stupid behavior. Here’s the best of the reactions to Lochte’s big fat fabrication.
