To provide some context, the beatsmith shared those sentiments as positive reviews rolled in for Rae Sremmurd’s expectation-defying release, SremmLife 2. As if “Black Beatles” weren’t enough of a glittering indication, the long-awaited LP by rap’s favorite duo slapped Summer ’16 with a soundtrack filled with what Slim Jxmmi fittingly describes as “welcome to the turn up” music.

“SremmLife 2 is the sequel to SremmLife so it’s like, SremmLife was our first experience and SremmLife 2 is our second experience. We came a long way from SremmLife, telling you all our life experiences, that’s what it is,” he shared. “Welcome to the SremmLife motherf—king turn up.” And that it is.

From start to finish, the reigning party kings leave all their contemporaries in the dust with a collection of booming bangers that altogether sound like subwoofer fueled by a keg of Four Loko and Monster energy drinks. Records like “Real Chill” with rap Rookie of the Year Kodak Black, the Three 6 Mafia-inspired “Shake it Fast,” and, the once again mentioned, “Black Beatles” showcase Rae Sremmurd’s undeniable ability at uniting a generation through good, fun, energetic music.

But while Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee bring the life to the party, it would be a crime to not acknowledge Mike WiLL Made It’s brilliance behind the scenes. After all, he’s as much a battery behind the backs of Rae Sremmurd as the duo are to Ear Drummers Records. “All winners just linking up, young n-ggas just linking up and giving each other a chance. I just want to put young, talented winners together on a platform to slay shit.”

And because it can’t just stay in audible form, expect the Rae Sremmurd signature “turn up” to hit a city near you this fall with their first headlining tour beginning October 1 in New Orleans through November 16 in San Diego. “SremmLife, Lil Yacthy, we both got two different waves so it’s going to be a tsunami,” Swae Lee advised. “We look forward to flooding out the venues, having all them girls over capacity, sold out, panties flooding the stage, everything.”
