Kodak Black will not be released from jail — as of yet.

The Pompano Beach rapper, born Dieuson Octave, was set to be released after entering a plea deal at a court hearing on Tuesday (August 16). However, according to a Broward Sheriff’s spokeswoman, Black won’t be released as soon as expected.

As it turns out, it was discovered that during the rapper’s process of release from Broward Main Jail, Black had two active arrest warrants. “During the process of release, we found that Octave had two active arrest warrants,” said Joy Oglesby to REVOLT. “He’s not going to be released.”

It is unclear why the warrants were discovered as the release process was underway.

The news comes after it was reported that Black, who was facing a maximum of 55 years in prison, would be sentenced to a year of house arrest and five years of probation following a court hearing in a Fort Lauderdale courtroom on Tuesday. The “Skrt” rapper was expected to be released after the hearing. Now, with the recent discovery of the active warrants, that process has since stalled.

Oglesby didn’t have any more information to disclose regarding the warrants, despite the fact that they were issued out of St. Lucie County in Florida and Florence, South Carolina.

Black was arrested back in May in South Florida, where he was taken into custody for eight charges, all from last year, including armed robbery, possession of cannabis, and false imprisonment. The month prior, he was arrested for leading police on a car chase.

Stay tuned to REVOLT for more updates once more information becomes available.
