We first connected with Marc E. Bassy on his standout record “You & Me,” which featured fellow Bay Area native G-Eazy. The upstart singer, who’s worked behind the scenes the last few years for some of your favorite artists, including Wiz Khalifia, Chris Brown, 2 Chainz, Pia Mia and Allen Stone, is now pushing his own project, his debut EP, Groovy People.

REVOLT was able to sit down with Marc as he warmed up on the piano prior to performing new music before a Los Angeles audience. Running through some melodies and soulful riffs just to set the vibe, he talked about how the project came together.

“I had the groovy people idea for maybe five years,” he explained. “It’s always been something on my mind. When people hear groovy the thing they think is earlier ’60s culture. I think the time we live now really reflects that time period a lot. My sentiment and my spirit comes from that. I feel like music has the power to change the world.”

Marc also discussed what he would want people to take away from the experience of listening to his music: “People hit me to say, ‘You make me want to push myself artistically.’ That’s the best compliment in the world,” he told REVOLT. “Because I want to grow as an artist and a person every day.”
