The A$AP MOB is definitely built on family values and this is proven every time they throw an event. Since the untimely death of Mob founder A$AP Yams, the gang has been keeping his memory alive every step of the way. On Ferg’s recent sophomore album, Always Strive and Prosper, he titles a dedication track “Yammy Gang” and Rocky helped lead the first annual Yams Day concert back in January, as well as the release of the crew’s tributary “Yamborghini High” video in May.
Most recently, they brought copies of the commemorative book ASAP Yams Gems, comprised of the late exec’s tweets, to streetwear shop Community 54 in the Lower East Side of New York for both Ferg and Yams’ mother to sign for devoted fans. In addition, attendees could purchase T-shirts to add to their repertoire.
The event was surprisingly small and controlled so the energy wasn’t your usual A$AP-incited turn-up, but the intimate one-on-one experience proved to be a success and left fans feeling like they too are a part of the Mob. It’s events like this that keeps their fan base returning and their shows sold out. The Mob clearly recognizes that connecting with people is synonymous to the success of their brand, as well as necessary to keeping Yams’ memory alive. Maybe in the future we’ll see a Yams hologram on stage with them, too.
