“I just felt like I had done all I could do creatively in New York,” the singer-songwriter told REVOLT. “When I came to L.A. a lot of the creative energy that I was feeling, I couldn’t find it anywhere else. And then Los Angeles, I feel like it makes you more open.”

Boykins told REVOLT that he’s getting more comfortable in himself as an artist, and the confidence is apparent in the new music, where he holds his own against Dej Loaf, Trinidad James and more. In front of a live band, Boykins performed his new song “Everybody Shut Up,” but was sure to break fans off with Love Apparatus favorites “B4 the Night Is Through” and “Show Me Who You Are.” If you’ve never seen Boykins live, REVOLT Sessions is a show you won’t want to miss.
