If you’ve seen Drake’s impression of his dad than you know he’s a, uh, character. Whereas meeting most actual celebrities can incite some feelings, meeting simply the father of this one is what inspired Canadian band Arkells to not just write a song dedicated to their chance encounter with Drizzy‘s dad Dennis, but name it after him and invite him to be in its accompanying video.

The five-man Ontario-formed alt-rock band ran into the senior Graham at a Memphis bar and based the song on the true story of their experience. Frontman Max Kerman said in a press release:

Last summer I was on a road trip with my best friends through the American south, and in the magic of the night, we happened to meet Drake’s dad – Dennis Graham – in a Memphis bar…He couldn’t have been more gracious, especially given that there were 16 of us, drunk on friendship and cheap American beer. This chance encounter inspired this song.

The band returns to the streets of the Tennessee city for the visual, profiling its people and culture, and over classic piano chords and fuzz guitar licks, punctuated by strings, organs and a choir, Kerman sings:

“We were rolling down Beale street/ In the Tennessee summer heat/ I can’t say it’s the land of free/ But I’ll tell ya, the booze runs cheap/ And there we met Drake’s dad/ Told him we came from Hamilton/ He said he knew a Canadian girl/ Who had a thing for Americans/ And all the girls back home will tell you/ Some grown ass men acting like boys”
