It is universally agreed that Michelle Obama gave an amazing speech on the opening night of the Democratic National Convention. While endorsing Hillary Clinton to be the next president, Obama delivered many notable lines, and this part especially rang throughout the Twitterverse:
โThat is the story of this country, the story that has brought me to this stage tonight, the story of generations of people who felt the lash of bondage, the shame of servitude, the sting of segregation, but who kept on striving and hoping and doing what needed to be done so that today I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves. And I watch my daughters, two beautiful, intelligent, black young women playing with their dogs on the White House lawn. And because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters and all our sons and daughters now take for granted that a woman can be president of the United States.โ
Like the rest of us, Kelly Clarkson was blown away by Obamaโs eloquent, moving words.
But per usual, a troll crawled from under the bridge to parse through all the greatness in the speech and take issue with the one factual detail that people conveniently like to forget.
And here is where Kelly Clarkson, pop singer, American Idol Season 1 winner, wife, mother, and all-around champ, delivered a perfect clapback ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ:
This Joshua Gage person, who obviously felt like a dummy, promptly deleted not just his tweet, but his entire account, it seems. Thank god for screenshots.
