“Pump, pump, pump it up…” Those famous words don’t just make up the hook to Joe Budden’s 2003 hit “Pump it Up,” they are also the opening line to Drake’s guest verse on French Montana’s “No Shopping.” A tongue in cheek reference for sure, the line has since sparked a feud (of sorts) between the two rappers with Budden firing not one, not two, but four back-to-back dis tracks.
All that said, over the weekend Budden found himself in sort of a pickle after two Drake fans ran down his driveway trying to record him with their phones. Weird scenario, right? If that wasn’t enough, these individuals also provoked the rapper with Drake’s “No Shopping” verse. So what did he do? See the video below.
Now that you’re caught up, here’s what took place since.
Immediately after the video went viral (“I will kill one of you,” says Budden in the vid), the folks that keep this internet thing going quickly revved up the meme generators and Photoshop controls to create a slew of memes. Whether it was placing Budden in Grand Theft Auto: Los Santos, a game of Temple Run, or in an ad for the upcoming Rio Olympics, the memes became a thing of magic.
Coincidentally, Drake’s OVO Fest 2016 goes down this weekend. So, there’s a good chance that we may revisit all the hilarious memes below during his set. The internet strikes again.
And take a look back at Budden’s history of beefs and battles.
