No need to waste time: Season 3 of Survivor’s Remorse opens with the Calloway family getting the worst possible news. Uncle Julius (Mike Epps) died as a result of the car crash that ended Season 2, and even worse, the crash was his fault. This season, each member processes that loss differently, as questions of guilt, identity, religion and independence all come into play.

Uncle J was the patriarch of the Calloway clan, so to speak, but in two new back-to-back episodes of the Starz show, we get a glimpse of the secrets he was keeping from the people who thought they knew him best. We look forward to seeing those revelations make waves throughout the season.

But perhaps one of the greatest moments from the comedy’s premiere was seeing grief cause Cam and his family to treat each other with newfound tenderness. We go from M-Chuck punching Cam, her brother, in the face a season ago, to them bonding in the, um, explosive scene below:
