#IfItWasn’tForGucci: A look at Gucci Mane's significant contributions to rap

  /  07.20.2016

He may not have the laurels of a Jay Z, possess the 20-year ringleading run of a Puff Daddy, or be responsible for sonically bridging regions like a Jermaine Dupri, but what Radric “Gucci Mane” Davis has been able to accomplish in a little under a decade deserves just as much recognition as the aforementioned.

REVOLT.tv has exclusive Gucci Mane homecoming concert live stream

Between the release of his debut album, 2005’s Trap House, and the approaching Friday (July 22) drop of Everybody Looking, Guwop’s done everything from kickstart the careers of this current generation of rap leaders (Future, Migos, Young Thug) and discover the current palette of music hitmakers (Mike WiLL Made It, Zaytoven, Metro Boomin). The guy practically rewrote the blueprint to being a trap rap god, and it takes more than just the work put in the booth. For Guwop, the whole outweighs the sum of its parts. So all things considered, it wasn’t for him… well, where would the rap game be? With that said, on Twitter today (July 20), fans hosted an #IfItWasntForGucci hashtag party to shed light on his legend.

The accurate…

The funny…

The wild…

Either way you put it, Guwop is a walking legend. Not to mention — shameless plug alert — #IfItWasntForGucci there would no live stream taking place Friday night (July 22) here on Revolt.tv. So be sure to pick up Mr. 1017’s Everybody Looking LP this week and keep it locked to REVOLT for his celebratory comeback concert. Burrr!
