Game and Snoop Dogg organize eventful gang summit in L.A.

Game and Snoop Dogg’s peaceful rally for change continued this weekend in Los Angeles, as the rappers and city officials came together for a gang summit.

Aptly titled “Time To Unite: United Hoods + Gangs Nation,” the unitive assembly was held at a South Los Angeles community center, where an overflow crowd of hundreds gathered to hear speakers ranging from current and former gangbangers to entertainers, activists, and preachers from the Nation of Islam plea for peace and unity.

“I’m here to be his voice,” Game told the Associated Press about the gathering, before noting that the event was “a decision made for my children.”

“I want her to walk out the door, and I want it to be a little bit … safer,” he said.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Chief Charlie Beck were also in attendance, telling members of the press that this was a “great first step” in the right direction toward subduing the violence in light of recent fatal shootings across the country between law enforcement and the public.

Garcetti later appeared in a video on Game’s social channels celebrating peace in the city. “Peace in our streets,” he said in a clip. “Peace right now. Everybody coming together. Black, brown, Crip, Blood, no matter. Come together now.”
