A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie: "I'm going to show people I'm a true artist"

  /  07.16.2016

Like a famous quote from The Wire‘s Marlo Stanfield, “My name is my name.” For Bronx’s own A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie (also commonly shortened to A-Boogie) that statement holds true. Earlier this year, the upstart made his grand introduction with the project Artist: The Mixtape. Spawning ubiquitous radio fixtures like “My Sh*t” and “Jungle,” the tape is special for several reasons. One, it’s the rapper’s debut release. Second, it’s titled after his real name — yes, Artist. “My name is Artist, my real name is Artist,” he explained to REVOLT during a recent office meet and greet. “I always wanted that to be something that was a part of my music.” With all eyes staring his way these days, thanks to the said mixtape (released via Highbridge The Label), stirring remixes with Fabolous and co-signs from Meek Mill and DJ Khaled among others, the artist better known as A Boogie continues to keep busy ringing off more bells than Sunday at 12 o clock.

Bringing that growing buzz to the REVOLT offices, see what the Bronx Bomber had to say about his craft, debut album plans, and more below.

Also, if you haven’t already, check out A Boogie and partner-in-rhyme Don Q light up Hot 97 with a fuego freestyle this past week.
