Prior to rapping, Joey Bada$$ was brushing up on his acting chops as a student at Brooklyn’s famous Edward R. Murrow High School, where famous names like Adam Yauch and Jean-Michel Basquiat are listed as members of the alumni. “I got accepted into my high school theater, so I was in a couple plays and productions,” he recently told Rolling Stone. As a quick aside, fellow Pro Era members like Nyck Caution, another alumni of Murrow, also walked the same path.

While rapping soon became his bridge to the limelight, Joey’s former interest came crawling back into his life recently as the 21-year-old Brooklyn MC landed a plum role in the Golden Globe-winning, acclaimed television drama Mr. Robot as the best friend to main character, and computer programmer-turned-vigilante, Elliot Alderson (played by Sam Esmail). Last night (July 13), the USA series debuted its second season, which saw officially Joey making on-screen acting debut. Two episodes have been made available online and finds the “Paper Trail$” talking “Seinfeld” in one and nearly catching the fade on a basketball court in the other. Check them out, here.
