Jesse Williams stole the show at the 2016 BET Awards with his acceptance speech of the Humanitarian Award. From his scathing critique of police in this country to his outpouring of love for his people, the actor drew an outpouring of cheers and praise, including Samuel L. Jackson’s comment, calling Williams “closest thing I’ve seen to a 1960s activist.” There was even calls after the show from social media to push for Williams to run for president.

Obviously, earning a Humanitarian Award means he’s “perpetually work,” as we wrote on the night of the BET Awards.

To give you an idea, though, before he was under the bright lights and on a big stage, REVOLT had a chance to speak to Williams in Flint, Michigan, where the activist travelled to speak up for the community about its water crisis.
