Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons, “Sucker For Pain” Feat. Logic, Ty Dolla $ign & X Ambassadors

Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Imagine Dragons, Logic, Ty Dolla Sign, and X Ambassadors offer a surprisingly somber cut for their contribution to the soundtrack for “Suicide Squad.” With a hook that kicks off the track saying, “I torture you,” each emcee uses their verse to reflect on their darkest moments and their inability to move on, as such, being a “sucker for pain.” The song is successful in bringing listeners down to a level of pity while juxtaposing their distance and connection from the likes of Wayne and Ty Dolla Sign.— Rob Hansen

Jay IDK, “Somebody (B)”

DMV rapper Jay IDK unveiled two singles today and while “Mentality” provides a trap-inspired anthem, “Somebody” showcases a funky, upbeat, saxophone-infused instrumental laced with cleverly constructed verses. This alone keeps you hooked, but what stood out the most was the message within the song which, per Jay IDK, was purposefully displayed. “Somebody” delivers an inspirational and confident hook with the tagline: “Know you’ll be somebody even when there is a future you can’t see.”— Erin Ashley Simon

Swade, “Alive”

Swade is bringing that fire. The 25-year-old from Lake Wales, FL recently released this track, produced by Thelonious Martin, as he prepares to deliver his debut album “ALUMNI” on July 1. If this a small snippet of what to expect for his upcoming release, we’re eager to see what’s to come. — Sabina Palmieri
