As A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie makes waves on the scene, the next in charge from under the Highbridge the Label camp is the Bronx native with the rich baritone Don Q.

After co-starring with his fellow BX brethren A Boogie on last month’s Highbridge the Label: The Takeover mixtape, which spawned the buzzing bangers like “Bag On Me” and “Bando,” Don Q readies to the next phase with a brand new music video for “Everything Lit.” In addition to unveiling the vid, Q talks to REVOLT about his sound, breaking out from the Bronx, and how Highbridge the Label manages to keep “everything lit.”

Coming out of the Bronx, how would you describe your sound?

Gritty, sometime smooth, and creative.

How’d you get into rapping?

I’ve always been a fan of Jay Z, the way he puts words together and flows. But I fell in love with punchlines, so the Cassidy, Lloyd banks and Fabolous era drew me in.

As one of the new rising rappers out of the city, you have a distinct voice and sound. What kind of mark do you hope to make on the game?

When you mentions “Spitters,” I want to be in the Top 5 and I want to focus on making more songs with my ability to spit some of the best verses you might’ve heard.

Tell us about “Everything Lit.” The last verse finds you at your most ferocious and personal.

“Everything Lit” is just me showing people that I’m capable of bars, flows, and catchy hooks. Towards the end of my second verse, I was just bringing you closer to my life. Everybody sees the clothes, jewelry, and cars, but there was a time when none of that existed in our lives.

What should expect from Highbridge the Label for the rest of the year?

Just keep your ears to the streets because you’re going to hear a lot from me and Boogie, whether it’s together or solo projects. We’re just trying to out work everybody else. You might get a Highbridge the Label movie this year, you never know.
