Just in case you thought things were sweet on the feline-friendly Meow the Jewels, arguably the weirdest rap album released thus far, Killer Mike has other plans in mind for the Run the Jewels’ new album.

Hoping to have the album wrapped up by July 7, the RTJ co-founder used the words “darker, harder, meaner, angrier” to describe the upcoming Run the Jewels threequel. Talking to HipHopWired, Mike talked about his preparation of the LP, which features quite the healthy regimen. “I’m just smoking weed, eating ‘shrooms, watching Big Trouble In Little China every day,” he said. “You know what we’re doing, we’re going zany. We’re going dark. I think we have some stuff that will touch your soul.” If you thought they went left with Meow, which was all in all a creative flip on the critically acclaimed RTJ2, expect the unexpected on the third round.

In addition to the LP’s essential extracurricular activities, Killer Mike says the LP will also feature a big guest star. But as that mystery name remains under wraps, the plan is to get RTJ3 out this year. “I would like to ball on the 4th. I think we’ll be done real soon. People know when we say soon, we’re trying to get it out. We want it out this year.”
