Drake's 'Views' Stretches To Seventh Week Reign On Billboard 200

  /  06.20.2016

For the seventh week in a row, Drake’s Views remains a reoccurring weekly headline as it snags another No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Views stacked up an additional 121,000 copies to keep it glued to the top spot for a consecutive week, according to Billboard.

The album is now the first album in 16 years, released by a male, to spend seven consecutive weeks at No. 1. The last LP to do so was Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP, which tallied up eight weeks at the top spot. As Billboard points out, Adele’s 25 was the last album by any act to spend seven weeks straight at No. 1.

In addition to Drake’s momentous chart run, Nick Jonas scored a big debut with his new LP, Last Year Was Complicated, arriving at No. 2 with 66,000 units. The entrance was a big look for the singer, whose last album, 2014’s Nick Jonas, bowed at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 with 37,000 sold. Rounding out the top three is _Hamilton, which rose from No. 13 to No. 3. Following its big night at the Tony Awards last weekend, the original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton picked up 62,000 units, with 45,000 of that sum equating in traditional album sales. Hamilton is now the highest charting cast recording since 2011, which saw The Book of Mormon rise to No. 3 after its multiple Tony Award wins.

Elsewhere on the chart, Beyoncé’s Lemonade arrives at No. 4, following its No. 2 showing last week, to a 56,000 outing.
