As he prepares to drop his newest project, Kairi Chanel, East discussed the various changes and growth he’s experienced in life and as an artist since the release of his project, Black Rose in 2014. East went on to comment that “from Black Rose to now, my life changed tremendously, I had a daughter, like, I don’t live in the projects anymore. I was just in a dark space as far as the music I was making… [I] met Nas, so once I met him it really started to change for me. I got people lookin at New York City again, for New York City.”
