Troy Ave Indicted In Irving Plaza Shooting
The BK rapper has been indicted on charges related to the fatal incident.
Troy Ave has been indicted on charges stemmed from the fatal shooting at a Irving Plaza concert last month.
The Brooklyn rapper waived his scheduled court appearance in Manhattan Criminal Court today (June 9), but prosecutor Christine Keenan voted to file “a certificate of affirmative grand jury action.”
Troy, born Roland Collins, was arrested on May 27th, following a backstage altercation during a T.I. concert that left his bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter, dead, as well as three others hurt, including the Brooklyn native himself. The arrest came after surveillance video surfaced in which someone who appears to be Troy Ave is seen, gun-in-hand, shooting into a crowd in the VIP section as concertgoers are seen running for cover.
After the arrest, Troy was charged with attempted murder and criminal weapons possession. It’s unclear, which charges he was indicted. On Monday (June 6), Troy released a new mixtape, titled Free Troy Ave, which featured a statement on the shooting. “I’m innocent, it ain’t the end, just the beginning,” he raps. “Innocent, unless they charging me with being real from the very beginning/ That’s a fact, though.”
The rapper is due back in court July 7.
