Freddie Gibbs Remains In France Following Arrest
The rapper remains in jail after extradition hearing gets delayed.
Freddie Gibbs remains behind bars in France following an arrest last week for charges stemmed from an alleged rape committed in 2015.
As reported by FACT Mag, the Indiana-bred rapper will spend at least another week in France after his extradition hearing, for the said charge, was postponed. Gibbs was arrested on June 2 in Toulouse, France stemmed from a European warrant issued in Austria that notes an alleged rape charge that took place in 2015.
According to the AFP, Gibbs’s lawyer Michael Malta held a hearing, stating, “[Gibbs] categorically denies the accusations made against him in Austria. He is even very surprised that Austria could act on this a year later, while he was on tour in Europe.”
Last week, another lawyer for Gibbs, Scott Leemon dismissed the “trumped up charges,” stating: “Freddie Gibbs adamantly denies the allegations that have been levied against by Austrian authorities. It makes you wonder why it took almost a year for Austrian officials to bring these charges.”
