Rihanna and Jay Z Sued Over Reported Canceled Concert
But plaintiff could be victim of a scam.
Rihanna, Jay Z, and Roc Nation have been sued by a man who claims the singer canceled a scheduled concert in Nigeria in May 2013.
According to TMZ, Chris Ubosi and his company, Megalectrics, struck a deal with two people claiming to be reps for Riri. The agreement said she’d get paid $425,000 for a 65-minute show, and Ubosi made three payments to the tune of $160,000 in order to secure her appearance.
However, Ubosi claims Rihanna’s camp then asked to postpone the show, and that he accepted the change under the condition that she promote the new, rescheduled date on social media.
But Ubosi says that because the update was never posted, Megaletrics demanded their money back. They still haven’t received that either, and are now suing the three entities for the funds.
Unfortunately,a rep for Roc Nation has spoken and believes Ubosi has been the victim of con.
They told TMZ, “Rihanna, Roc Nation nor anyone associated personally or professionally with either party was in contact with this person. Unfortunately this person was scammed. Rihanna nor Roc Nation collected any money for this event.”
