Rita Ora Splits From Roc Nation

And she’s joining Atlantic Records.

Rita Ora may have been one of Roc Nation’s first signees but, after 8 years, it’s clear the payoff never met the promise. The two have officially parted ways, according to Billboard.

In December of last year, the singer filed a lawsuit against the label in Los Angeles Superior Court, looking to break the five-album recording contract she signed in 2008. She cited an “orphaned relationship” between herself and the company, accused them of having a “diminished” status with “only a handful of…superstar artists” on its roster, and claimed she felt neglected by the label as it began to explore other endeavors.

Just a month later, Roc Nation replied with a counterclaim of their own, arguing that she was in breach of her contract having not delivered four more albums after her 2012 debut Ora—an album that it claims to have spent over $2.3 million recording and promoting. The album failed to deliver any singles to reach the Billboard chart’s Top 50 in the U.S.

Over the weekend, Ora shared a post on Snapchat of two obscured papers with the caption: “Contract time!!”

Update: On June 20th, Ora and Atlantic Record’s UK operation announced the singer would be joining the label’s roster.
