Listen To The Kills Cover Rihanna's "Desperado"

The Kills’ guitarist Jamie Hince and singer Alison Mosshart deliver a whirl-wind, bluesy cover of Rihanna’s Anti cut “Desperado” during an appearance on Sirius XM’s indie-rock station Sirius XMU.

The stripped down rendition offers a smoky spin to the sinister lyrics, while Mosshart croons over Hince’s stark acoustic guitar. Hince told Rolling Stone that “R&B, dancehall, electronic and hip-hop are genres that are really pushing the limits,” possibly explaining the indie rock band’s fascination with the pop star.

Last week, the Kills released Ash & Ice, their fifth studio album and first since 2011’s Blood Pressures.
