Gov. Ball Day 3 Is Cancelled Due To Weather Concerns
Hot 97’s Summer Jam is still on, but the festival village has been called off.
After a rain-soaked weekend in New York, organizers of Governors Ball have announce on Sunday (June 5) that the final day (headlined by Kanye West) would be cancelled.
“Sunday, June 5th of Gov Ball 2016 has officially been cancelled, due to severe weather and a high likelihood of lightning in the area. The safety of fans, artists and crew always comes first,” a message was posted on the festival website.
“All customers who purchased a Sunday ticket and Sunday transportation ticket through the Gov Ball ticketing page will receive a refund (including fees and shipping, if applicable) directly to the account used to purchase. All customers who purchased a 3-Day Pass and 3-Day Transportation pass directly through the Gov Ball Ticketing page will receive a partial/pro-rated refund (including fees and shipping, if applicable) directly to the account used to purchase.”
Refunds are expected to be processed in 21 days.
Kanye West, CHRVCHES, Galantis, Prophets of Rage, Vic Mensa, Chet Faker and Death Cab For Cutie were among the performers scheduled for the last day.
New York radio station Hot 97’s Summer Jam is also set for today in New Jersey at Met Life Stadium. As of press time, that concert is slated to continue. The festival village, however, which kicks off in the parking lot hours prior to the concert has been called off.
