New Music Roundup: Travis Scott, Maxwell, LVNDVN & Donte Thomas
Summer earworms and up-and-comers.
Travis Scott, “Pick Up The Phone” Feat. Young Thug & Quavo
Ring, ring, ring…
For his latest 2016 number, Travis Scott conjures up a telephonic symphony on “Pick Up The Phone.” Featuring Young Thug and his infectious warbles, along with Migos quarterback Quavo, the sparkling earworm is a sure summer soundtrack in the making. Pick up the dial below.— Ralph Bristout
It’s been too long since “Pretty Wings” and “Sumthin’ Sumthin’” were in rotation, so it’s nice to have Maxwell’s smooth and sultry vibe back to heat up the summer. In anticipation of his upcoming album blackSUMMERS’night, which is due July 1, Maxwell has unleashed his latest effort in the form of a lyric video for “1990x.” Falling on the mellow side, with a classic R&B deliverable, he croons to the space-themed visuals: “Lay here closely beside me/ Feel my heart as it’s pounding/ We will climax with reason/ ‘Cause we’re grown and we own it.”
The release follows the music video for debut single “Lake By the Ocean” and is just the beginning of the bedroom-action LP out next month.
Sometimes at REVOLT we come across hidden gems within our submissions email. Today, we found LVNDVN (pronounced Landon) and his latest single “Plans.” His flow, falsetto voice, and sensual production is intoxicating, like drinking from a cup filled with sex and pleasure. There isn’t a whole lot of media coverage on this artist but, hey, we don’t mind. So if you are looking for a House of Balloons kind of vibe, start listening.— Erin Ashley Simon
Donte Thomas, “Oceans”
Portland, Oregon artist Donte Thomas has presented to us an exotic, sexy summer tune with his latest single “Oceans.” Like LVNDVN, we came across Thomas thanks to our submissions email. When asked about the inspiration behind the song, he said, “This song compliments the vibes of Spring/Summer and it’s a record I take a lot of pride in. I just wanted women to feel sexy listening to music.” Sexy, indeed. So if you want to surfboard, get faded, wasted, all of that, click play.— E.A.S.
