Listen to Mike WiLL Made-It & Rihanna's New Collabo: "Nothing Is Promised"
It’s heavy-hitting but hazy.
It’s been almost a year in the making, but Mike WiLL Made-It’s new collaboration with Rihanna is finally here.
The super-producer teased “Nothing Is Promised” on Twitter back in July 2015 with a short clip that called attention to a beat that welcomed us with both a siren’s wail and Riri’s mouthy, matter-of-fact delivery: “Ain’t none of this shit promised, ain’t none of this promised…Ain’t none of this shit certain, ain’t none of it certain.”
Now, arrived in full, all the song’s swag is still intact, but tenfold.
Having joined forces before on the trap-happy “Pour It Up,” Mike and Rihanna prove that they make a good team. Once again, her casual confidence rides his heavy-hitting but hazy sounds with ease, even as she flips back and forth between bold boasting (“They can’t even compare us, we’re rarer than n—as”) and realistic humility (“Ain’t none of us perfect, I hope it was worth it”).
“Nothing Is Promised” is the first single off the producer’s Ransom 2 mixtape, due later this summer.
