Blood Orange Reveals Album Cover For Upcoming 'Freetown Sound'

Dev Hynes’ third Blood Orange album is “coming VERY soon,” according to the singer.
He’s just unveiled the album artwork for Freetown Sound via social media, making sure to credit photographer Deana Lawson who shot the photo. Having had her work on display at the MoMa, Lawson’s intimate photos aim to showcase “the body’s ability to channel personal and social histories,” and her contribution to Hynes’ project is no different.
Hynes previously spoke to V Magazine about the album, saying, “It’s like my version of [the Beastie Boys’] Paul’s Boutique. It kind of plays like a long mix tape… It talks a lot about sexuality and displacement and life in the city—so it’s definitely very personal, but in doing that I think it’s probably the most relatable thing I’ve ever done.”
