Deadmau5’s SoundCloud account was hacked two days ago by a collective called Our Mine, resulting in his personal information being leaked and even threats of even apparently ordering a set of dildos to be sent to an old address of his. Bizarre.
Now the producer is letting off some steam in the form of a series of tweets about their “shitty 3rd grade security.” It also appears that his SoundCloud account has been disabled until further notice.
There’s no argument against SoundCloud upgrading their security and authentication processes (the did rail against the company being trusted to handle personal information), however, there has to be some other story to this that we’re not seeing. Deadmau5 wrapped up the rant with a call to action for fans to share a tweet to SoundCloud with the hashtag #SupportTwoFactorAuth, which is in support of the identity security method 2FA.
Update: The mau5 head DJ’s Soundcloud has apparently been restored and active.
