Aside from being a musical pioneer, philanthropist and creative virtuoso, Pharrell Williams just believes in the “good in people.” Today, (May 23) Pharrell launches a personal website that puts the keys to his story in the hands of the people that inspire him most, his fans.

Users who visit the site are encouraged to log in through Facebook to create a fan card, which is a three step process requiring fans to select one of five categories- music, fashion, art/design, tv/film or social good- choose their favorite project within the category, and upload their unique card to the homepage where it serves as a point to access the desired project.

“I hate to promote myself. It’s the most uncomfortable feeling in the world,” Williams says on his Facebook page. “They say it’s necessary to tell people about your projects, but I just believe that if it’s good, people will find it on their own. For this reason, there wasn’t much on pharrellwilliams.com.

Designed for the fans by the fans, the fan cards allow visitors not only to take a tour of Pharrell’s world but also provide a utility for Pharrell to gather data about his fans whose interest are as diverse as his own. He is also relying on his fans to drive awareness to the site, as all generated content will be shared to a user’s social media channel. Fans can expect pharrellwilliams.com to be the go-to destination for exclusive tracks, behind the scenes content, tour updates and a destination to gain access to live events.

“I am nothing without the people who enjoy my work. I can’t exist without all of you. I can create all day, but if there isn’t an audience to co-sign my projects, to acknowledge they’re any good, they would just exist in my mind.”

“Without you, there is no me. My career has lasted over 20 years, and I’m amazed that people are still interested in what I do. Thank you.”
