Haim Pay Tribute To Prince With "I Would Die 4 U" Cover, Debut Two New Songs
The sister trio is back on the road.
After promising to hit the road this year with new music, Haim delivers their word with a first tour stop Tuesday night (May 17) in Santa Ana, California.
The sister trio paid tribute to the late-icon Prince with a rousing cover of the 1984 classic “I Would Die 4 U.” Remastering the Purple Rain single with massive synths and treble harmonized guitars, the climax of the record swayed with a funky baseline and unison of instruments.
The band also debuted two new songs during the show, reportedly titled “Nothing’s Wrong” and “Give Me Just a Little Bit of Your Love.” The latter is a funky rock tune with a super-catchy chorus, that is backed by to the sound of ‘80s electric wave.
Back in March, Haim released a video which they said they were ready to leave the studio and air out the new material. “We’ve just been in the studio for so long like, perfecting and trying to get it right,” the band said. “At this point, we just wanna go out there and play the songs live.”
The band’s ongoing tour will stretch into October, including festival dates at Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, Reading and Leeds, among others.
